This was recommended to me by a vet friend who gave me some samples to try. My horse is an excellent drinker, uses his salt lick, and sweats normally but not excessively. I give him this at shows and before/during big temperature swings just to keep his stomach happy and hydration up. He loves it so much and gets so excited when he sees his “special water” bucket. I find the horses especially like it if you put the powder in a dry bucket and fill it with a higher pressure hose because then it gets all frothy and foamy (see photo – happy boy with his cappuccino nose). I wish it were a little cheaper, but as a special treat it’s fine, and Amazon’s price is competitive. Since my horse drinks it readily, has free access to salt, and gets it more as a fun flavor addition to boost water intake than for the electrolytes, I’ll often use just half a packet in a full pail of water or use a full packet in a big water bucket split between two horses, and it usually works just as well this way for horses that like the taste. If you’re using this as your horse’s primary source of electrolytes, you’ll quickly go broke, but if you need a pretty foolproof way to boost your horse’s water intake and/or overall hydration levels occasionally in the form of a treat, this works really well.
